Dr. Swati Shresth
Dr Swati Shresth has a Ph.D in History from Duke University and has teaching and research experience across diverse research institutions like the Centre for Social Impact and Philanthropy at Ashoka University and Ambedkar University among others.
She has been engaged with the social sector for the last 25 years and has extensive experience of partnering and collaborating with organizations at grassroots and international levels. At CAPI, she drives the Centre’s strategic direction, fundraising, multi-stakeholder partnerships, and research agenda, drawing on her deep expertise in research, community development and institution-building.

Khyati Dharamshi
Khyati Dharamshi is a Research Associate at CAPI with 9 years of experience in the Indian development sector. She has worked with Sattva Consulting, advising family foundations and philanthropists through applied research, and led donor engagement at Goonj.
A former Gandhi Fellow, she holds an MSc in Social Psychology and Economics from the London School of Economics and Pol. Sci. and a B.A. in Psychology from Mumbai University. At LSE, she supported research on poverty and decision-making and co-authored and published paper on India’s feminization of agriculture. At CAPI, she contributes to research and strategy to inform philanthropic practices.

Jophin Mathai
Jophin Mathai is Senior Program Manager at CAPI with 13 years of experience in the social impact sector spanning fieldwork, policy, and program design and management. Prior to CAPI, he worked at the Centre for Social Impact and Philanthropy at Ashoka University.
A former Gandhi Fellow and education entrepreneur, he holds an MSc in Public Policy from the University of Edinburgh (where he was a scholar at The Buchanan Institute, an award-winning student-led think-tank) and a BSc in Mathematics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. He brings eclectic life experiences with expertise in capacity building, program strategy, and cross-sector collaboration.

Ruth Shapiro.
Dr. Ruth A. Shapiro is Co-Founder and Chief Executive of the Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS), a Hong Kong-based research and advisory non-profit organization working throughout Asia. CAPS produces evidence-based research to help philanthropists, governments, and social delivery organizations maximize positive impact of private social investment.
Dr. Shapiro authored “Pragmatic Philanthropy: Asian Charity Explained” (Palgrave Macmillan, 2018) and edited “The Real Problem Solvers,” exploring social entrepreneurship in America. She co-authored “Building Energy Efficiency: Why Green Buildings are Key to Asia’s Future” and regularly publishes in Nikkei Asia, South China Morning Post, Alliance, and Philanthropy Impact. She speaks frequently on private social investment in Asia.
She founded the Asia Business Council and served as Executive Director from 1997 to 2007. Her early career focused on international development, holding management positions at Academy for Educational Development, Harvard Institute of International Development and Global Outlook.
Dr. Shapiro holds a doctorate from Stanford University, master’s degrees from Harvard University and George Washington University, and completed undergraduate studies at University of Michigan.
Noshir H. Dadrawala.
Noshir H. Dadrawala is CEO of Centre for Advancement of Philanthropy (CAP), offering compliance advisory to nonprofits and corporate social initiatives. His career spans over 40 years in the nonprofit sector, working with diverse organizations from large national and global entities to corporate and family grant makers and startups.
With four decades of hands-on experience, Noshir’s legal expertise and deep understanding of compliance within philanthropy are widely recognized. His international affiliations include serving on the advisory board of International Center for Not-for-profit Law (ICNL) and previously on boards of Worldwide Initiatives for Grantmaker Support (WINGS), Resource Alliance, and Asia Pacific Philanthropy Consortium (APPC).
In India, he serves as trustee of Forbes Foundation, Collective Good Foundation, GuideStar India, and other organizations. He’s also an Audit Committee member of Akshay Patra Foundation and Advisory Committee Member of Masina Hospital.
Noshir has authored several resource books, actively blogs on compliance issues, speaks at conferences, and serves as guest faculty at business schools and Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
